About
Oh, right, this thing has an “about” page.
Let’s see… I’m Michael Cohen, although I have sometimes gone by Mac when there’s too many competing Michaels about. I live in Providence, RI with my fiance Laura who is finishing up a Ph.D. here. I commute to Boston to do software support at EnerNOC, because I’m good with technology and I’m passionate about applying my skills to green up our energy supply. In the past, I’ve resisted starting “about” pages by talking about my job because — well, you are not your job, right? — but now that I feel I’ve found the right job, my perspective has shifted a bit.
Between the job and the commute, hobby time is at a premium, but when I can I enjoy snowboarding, European board games, reading, writing, and tinkering (software, appliances, you name it). You can find older creative work and other stale bytes on the old site.
Also, I am much funnier than this bio would suggest. Seriously. I am like Jon Stewart funny, if Jon Stewart, instead of developing his comedic talent, decided to become an environmentalist computer geek, and therefore had to get by on an innate but stunted glint in his eye rather than, say, actual chops. That’s how funny I am.
